This months theme for the blog carousel is “monochrome” which by definition is a painting, drawing or photograph in one color or shades of one color.
For those of you who may be just visiting my blog for the first time let me explain what the blog carousel is. The carousel is a monthly event. The purpose of these posts is more personal. These are exercises to get us doing something for ourselves and to push ourselves in a different way. Its for fun and personal exploration, that’s it! Each month we will have a theme and we will photograph or find images that, for us, represent that theme. At the end of my post you will find the link to the next person in this carousel, please be sure to check out her post and leave a little love. Also if you want to play along feel free to post your own versions on your blogs with a little info on what your doing and then you can come leave your link in the comment section below so I can be sure to check out your post too.
For my post this month I used my kids again…..these projects are a great excuse to take their photos and this month the deadline fell on my son’s birthday! So I am doing them together. Today my son is 10 years old. Where the last 10 years went I have no idea…..they just flew by. I am a proud mama, that is for sure. My children are good people, kind, thoughtful and considerate. Kolby, is a lot like me in that he is sensitive and emotional. This is a good thing…he empathizes with others and he really does care about everyone’s well being. I have so many story’s about him..one of my favorites is when he was in Kindergarten I went to pick him up, just like every other day. His teacher pulled me aside, saying she needed to speak to me about Kolby. Of course, as any parent would be I was concerned about what he may have done. She told me that on that day there were some kids picking on a classmate. Included in that group of kids was a couple of Kolby’s friends. After observing what was going on for a minute or two Kolby approached his friends and told them in a matter of fact way that “I am not going to be your friend and play with you if you are going to be mean to other people.” he then walked away from the group. What a bold move for a 5 year old don’t you think? He quickly established himself as a “leader” in the classroom and other kids would vie for his attention….this was also the same year I found his first love letters (drawn not written) from 2 of the girls in his class. According to their moms they would argue over who was going to marry him!
Happy Birthday Kolby, I know you will do great things!

And because I believe in torturing photographing my kids equally just 1 of each of the girls.
